Field Closure Notice – SAM Event

SAM will be holding an event at our field from 3:00 PM on Friday, March 14, through 4:00 PM on Sunday, March 16.

The field will be closed to all other activities during this time. Flying will be allowed on Saturday from 3:00 PM until dark.

Custom Valkyrie Project

Club member Paul Schlein is building a 10-15ft RC Valkyrie, combining precision engineering with impressive scale. This detailed model captures the sleek design of the iconic aircraft while ensuring high-performance flight. Using advanced materials and expert craftsmanship, he’s bringing this ambitious project to life. Can’t wait to see it fly!

Thank you to everyone who attended our meeting on January 11. Here’s a summary of the key updates and plans:

• Gate Code Update: A new gate code is now in effect. Renewing members will receive the updated code directly.
• Fun Fly Event Announcement: Mark your calendars! A Fun Fly event is planned for April 26–27, featuring exciting activities, food, and a potential night flying session. Stay tuned for more details on how to RSVP and participate.
• Field Maintenance: Ongoing cleanup and improvements have made the field more welcoming and enjoyable. Thanks to everyone who pitched in!
• Safety Reminders: All flyers are encouraged to follow safety guidelines, including maintaining a 400-foot altitude limit and adhering to standard protocols during takeoffs and landings.
• Website Updates: The club website has been refreshed for easier navigation and will soon include a step-by-step guide for joining the club.

• 2025 dues were discussed. The current fees will remain in place ($70 annual fee, $30 initiation fee)
  • 2025 dues are now payable
• Club meetings in 2025. All meetings will be held at Wekerle Field, at noon.

• The gate code will be changed after the 1-11-25 meeting. Members should be sure to get their dues to Harry W., who will then provide them with the new code.

Discussion was had regarding the broken padlock on the entry gate.

Be sure not to overfly Panama Rd., and to abide by the 400’ flight ceiling.

Sorry to report that Terry Schrader passed away earlier this year. Terry was a master builder, and a great guy. Rest in Peace.

We received notification today that our FRIA application has been approved. This means we can fly without having to use a remote ID module. Details will be discussed at the next club meeting on September 17.

Our FRIA request has been received by the AMA, and they will submit it to the FAA. They advise that FAA has not acted on any requests yet, and will probably not do so until late summer. FRIA compliance does not begin until September. As additional information is received, it will be posted in this space.

The field has been weeded and dragged, and looks great.

We are waiting to hear back from AMA regarding our FRIA submission.
